2nd Grade: Zucchini Noodles and Marinara, Roasted Carrots, Apple Cider Granita

The last tasting before the summer break. Couldn’t grow much at school because 20 tomato plants were taking over the planters. If it wasn’t for Eleu at The Learning Garden in Venice, I wouldn’t have been able to do these regular tastings. All the produce he has donated to our garden program is organic and he personally observes the growing practices from his network of community gardens, urban farms, farmers market, and backyard gardens. Thank you Eleu!

Lightly blanched Zucchini Noodles with Marinara made from last summer’s frozen tomatoes, and Rosemary Roasted Carrots. A student said,”At first I thought it was going to taste ok or not that great, but it was amazing!” What the kids couldn’t get enough of was a refreshing Apple-Pear Cider Granita. Just make the Apple-Pear Cider and freeze it!
